Barbara Weir (1940-2023) had a worldwide reputation as a fine Indigenous Artist who not only represented her and her family's art but Aboriginal Culture in general.
Barbara Weir passed away on 3 January 2023. I was unable to attend her funeral because at that time I thought I might follow her and I was still recovering from a heart valve replacement and double bypass. However, a visit to the Cardiologist established in February that all went splendid and my heart worked again as it should.
Following this message I planned a visit to Barbara Weir's grave in Alice Springs and use the opportunity to catch up with her daughters Charmaine and Terese.
Barbara worked with Boomerang Art on and off for almost 18 years. She provided me with a lot of advise and support and brought her mother Minnie Pwerle and Minie's sisters Galya, Molly and Emily to my place to paint. She was not only an Artist we had a business relationship with but a friend. For many years she came regularly to my gallery and studio for a chat. She provided me with her life story and gave permission to print it in a small publication.
