Barry Demi was born in Halls Creek in 1970 and has been painting since 1993, inspired by his grandfather, a skilled carver. Barry's landscapes are of both his mother's country of Margaret River and his Kija father's country of Alice Downs as well as drawing on his life as a stock-man in the the Kimberley and Northern Territory. Barry has exhibited in galleries in Perth and the Kimberley. He is also a prodigious musician and, since 2016, the Chair of the Yarliyil Arts Centre .
