Brenda Lynch Nungurrayi was born 28 June 1964
Brenda Nungurrayi Lynch is an Anmatyerre Speaker and her traditional country is around Coniston and Napperby Stations. At the time she did the painting displayed on this website she lived in Yuelamu, a settlement of around 250 people, about 250 kms north/west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory (Central Australia). In the past Yuelamu was also known as Mount Allan and is on a large cattle station of the same name.
Brenda commenced painting in 1986 and depicts in her paintings stories of the the Corkwood tree, of Yam, Water and Snake. She sold her art via local galleries and had exhibitions in Australia and overseas. The piece on this website is most unique. It's a masterpiece by Brenda Lynch Nungurayi and is 327 cm's long.
