2 weeks ago we completed our new 200 square meter Gallery and featured there artworks by Barbara Weir who passed away in January 2023. Barbara was a regular visitor in our Art Gallery when she was around in Alice Springs and not somewhere overseas in Japan or the US. She was one of the most widely travelled indigenous Artists and one of the strongest advocates for Utopia artists. She made sure that not only her mother Minnie Pwerle and her children were involved and promoted, but also her wider family, Emily, Galya and Molly Pwerle and their relatives and her grandchildren. Without Barbara's tireless support, we most likely would not know about those artists.
Barbara's paintings can be found in many major public and private collections around the world and to mark the opening of our new Gallery Space we make available 5 of her paintings at a fraction of usual gallery prices.
